Biography of Francisco Pizarro

September 16, 2009

He was born in the year 1471 in a town Trujillo, Estremadura, Spain. His parents were never married and he was raised by his mother’s poor family and never learned to read and write. He was ambitious, brave and brutal and was determined to make his fortune as an explorer and conqueror. He had traveled a lot before his expeditions to Peru, he had tried to explore and conquer Peru but failed twice until he finally got hold of the situation and became governor of Peru. As he became governors many settlers from Spain were also encouraged coming to Peru. He married a Spanish woman by the name N de Trujillo and had a son with her also named Francisco. He also had a lot of military victories but is famous for his conquest of South America. Ruthless, persevered, and luck, all proved to be factors of Pizarro’s success in South America. He had the advantage of a few weapons, but reasonably, his small army of 200 men, should have been no match to Atahualpa’s 30,000 men. Yet, they did and Pizarro became one of those few people who with military influence changed the course of history.
